The first two weeks of your baby's life are incredibly special.

Sleepy Babies Create Timeless Portraits

One of the biggest reasons photographers recommend the 8–14 day window is that many newborns still sleep for much of the day.

This often allows us to gently transition between different wraps, props, and setups without disturbing your baby too much, creating those peaceful, sleepy portraits that parents love.

Some babies sleep for most of the session.

Others are naturally more alert.

We carefully watch your baby's cues throughout the session and never force them into a position that doesn't feel comfortable or natural.

Safety Is Our Highest Priority

As experienced newborn photographers, we believe that no photograph is ever worth compromising your baby's safety.

That's why we choose not to photograph certain poses or elaborate setups that we don't believe are safe.

Instead, we focus on creating timeless, natural portraits using gentle posing techniques that allow your baby to remain relaxed and supported throughout the session.

Every wrap, every prop, and every pose is carefully chosen with your baby's comfort in mind.

What If My Baby Is Older Than Two Weeks?

Please don't panic.

This is another question we hear all the time.

While 8–14 days is often the ideal age, beautiful newborn portraits can absolutely still be created with older babies.

The session simply changes to suit your baby's stage of development.

Older newborns are often more awake and curious, which can lead to gorgeous eye contact, sweet expressions, and beautiful family photographs.

Rather than trying to recreate the same images we might achieve with a younger baby, we embrace your baby's personality and create a gallery that tells their story.

Why Booking During Pregnancy Is So Important

Because babies rarely arrive exactly on their due date, we recommend booking your newborn photography session during your second or third trimester.

Rather than booking a fixed date, we reserve a day approximately 10 days after your due date in our calendar.

Once your baby arrives, you simply let us know, and we'll schedule your session within the ideal timeframe.

As a boutique Sydney North Shore newborn photography studio, we only accept a limited number of newborn bookings each month to ensure every family receives the relaxed, personalised experience we're known for.
